As a person living on ramen noodles and tuna fish in college, I decided to try my hand at cooking to break up the monotony. I went to the store and bought some hamburger meat and other ingredients that I thought would make a good goulash, which is one of my favorites while living at home with mom doing all the cooking.
I took it home and went to work. To my surprise it didn't taste too bad but tasted nothing like the goulash mom made. In fact, it tasted more like sweet spaghetti. So I decided to call my mom and ask her what ingredients she used and how she made it. She sent me a recipe and told me to follow the directions exactly and it should turn out perfect. She was right. I was ecstatic!
So, the next day I went out and bought a recipe book. For the next few months I cooked all kinds of dishes and they were good, but when I tried to cook the dishes that I loved at my favorite restaurants they were completely different. For example, I could never make shrimp scampi taste like Red Lobster's, and the many pasta dishes I tried were not nearly as good as Olive Garden's, so I set out to find the recipes they used.
Finally I came across a recipe book called, "America's Restaurant Recipes 1" and I bought it. It contained over 120 recipes from 60 of the countries top restaurants and so I first tried a couple of recipes for dishes that I always order when at those restaurants and I was amazed. They really did taste the same, so I decided to invite some friends over one night to see what they thought. They couldn't believe that I actually did the cooking and thought I actually went out and bought the food. I had to show them the pans and dishes I used to do the cooking before they would believe me.
This cookbook is definitely my favorite out of the 7 that I now own, and I even bought one for my mom and she loves it.
Can anyone cook? Absolutely! And just like the top chefs in the top restaurants. All you need is the right recipe and you will be the hit of the party. Get your own copy of American's Secret Recipes by clicking the banner below:
